Key cabinet

This key cabinet was designed as an exploration of how to work with wood movement rather than against it. Made entirely from solid wood, it had to allow for seasonal expansion and contraction without compromising its structure. That became the main challenge—finding solutions that let the material shift naturally over time.

The shape draws inspiration from Art Deco skyscrapers, with a rounded top and stepped shoulders giving it a quiet but distinct presence.

I was curious to see how thin I could make the wooden components while keeping the construction solid. The slats on top were another experiment—originally in wood, but designed to be interchangeable with bent glass for a lighter expression.
